Remington MSC-140 It's so good, it's surprising
I bought this shaver as a back up to my regular Remington electric. I have now used it for over 8 months almost every day. It's so superior to my regular shaver that I use it almost all the time. The cutting mechanism is somewhat slower than my other Remington, but for me, it actually shaves better. It misses less hair then the faster model and based on using it every day, it works just fine (for a multi day growth, the other one works better). This shaver actually costs less than replacing the blades alone for most electric shavers! It's a ridiculously great buy. I can not speak for the one guy who hated it (in the reviews) but dollar for dollar, I can't recall buying anything and getting such great value. I recommend it enthusiastically!
Remington MSC-140 excellent travel razor.
I was concerned this would be cheap and breakable with the price but its actually perfect for travel. shaves just like any foil-based razor and you dont have to bothered with getting your eletric razor to work with foreign power outlets
Remington MSC-140 Excellent shave and lasted way longer than I thought it would.
I get the best shave of any razor with this. Even the "non-disposable" quality razors. It lasted about as long as a typical foil does on other razors. I just bought a couple more.
Remington MSC-140 Travel Shaver Works Great.
This is a great little shaver. Obviously it shouldn't be the only thing you use, but it does a good job. The blades aren't replaceable, but at this price just buy a new one when they wear out. This shaver costs less than blades for my other razor. Plus You have to buy a foil as well if you use that kind.
I would recommend rechargeable batteries to keep it going strong longer, but keep in mind that NiMh batteries gradually loose their charge when not in use.
Remington MSC-140 Travel Shaver Great Item!
I bought this for my son. He is serving our country in Iraq and water isn't always available for shaving so he found this travel razor that he can use. Because of it's inexpensive price he is not concerned if he loses it, it does a great job and it doesn't take up alot of room.
Remington MSC-140 Shaver Excellent, Cheap Shaver!
This has been my primary shaver since July of last year. Bought it when I forgot my Norelco rotary on a trip. Have not looked back since. This shaver outperformed my Norelco in every aspect. Just shows that price ($10 vs. $90) does not equal quality.
Why four stars? A couple items:
- Battery operated. Can get expensive over time to keep buying batteries, though the batteries do tend to last a while (2+ weeks) before speed of blade gets noticeably slower.
- Can't replace the blades or foil. Small complaint, as the shaver is cheap enough to just buy a new one.
- Does take a few passes to get a majority of the hairs (esp. after batteries are worn a little).
- As with all electrics, tends to miss hair, especially in hard areas (under chin, around lip, next to ears, etc.)
Overall, a great value to at least try BEFORE you spend $70+ on a rechargeable shaver.
Remington MSC-140 Shaver Great shaver for occasional use.
I am a devoted blade user (despite what the ads say, there are NO electrics that shave as close as a blade), but there are times that I just don't feel like going through the whole ritual of wet shaving. I've had all of the major electric brands at one time or another, including a Norelco rotary and an expensive Braun. I can say, without exaggeration, that this little eleven-buck throwaway shaver is the best electric I've ever owned or used.
When I ordered this, my main worry was that a battery-based shaver would be underpowered. Surprisingly, the lower power seems to be a plus. This shaver doesn't seem as aggressive and brutal as the plug-in and rechargeable models I've used. It doesn't irritate my skin but still has plenty of power to cut my very stiff hair.
Minor drawbacks: No trimmer; the clear plastic head protector doesn't stay on (but you can solve that with a rubber band); the cleaning brush is tiny and is hard to remove from the plastic protector (so I use a leftover brush from a previous shaver). Considering the price and performance, these are trivial issues.
